I made this, just hours ago and think good for bricked My Cloud.

But I don’t know what Empty Space39 is.

And I didn’t test yet.

Someone told to me that restoring was good but firmware upgrade not working.

Is there any other solution?

My soft bricked My Cloud 3 TB looked layout was this:

Something is broke in your raid layout.

Compare it with mine forgot last ext4 partiton that must be bigger.

Look at your second raid partition size used says 2.4 GB used, 1.9 GB unused of a partiton that must be 1.9 GB in size…

I can’t see your snapshot.

My image is simlilar to nfodiz’s.

If you are using mobile version view you can’t see images.

Can you provide a link to nfodiz layout?

There must be something wrong in the snapshot from nfodiz and it doesn´t correspond to your or mine.

I opened your image and his layout is similar to mine, here is your image:

Partition o and 1 are the raid ones and have the correct size.

Actually, images don’t show up for other members until they get approved by moderators.

Your image should be viewable now.

Thanks Tinwarble sometimes i feel that i’m always behind a firewall! :smileyvery-happy:

No problems, most of the time I feel like I’m banging my head against a firewall.

Now I can see your images.

So you mean my image is all right?

The partition layout seems ok.

Is this a disk backup for full fresh install in case of soft brick?

Yes.

And I got message about firmware upgrade that is successful after entire initialization.

Hi WSGVET, any chance of uploading the image in another place? Not sure why, but MEGA is not working here so I can’t download it.

Many thanks!

UPDATE: Mega is back and the link is fine no worries

Hi WSGVET, I used your virgin disk image in my WD My Cloud with

dd if=image.img of=/dev/sdb

And it works in the WD My Cloud, but when I connect the hard drive to the computer, it appears as if the partition table is corrupted, so I cannot access any of the partitions or the data.

I’m really concerned, because even if the unit works, I want to use the linux box and I dont want to loose all my data or have to try my luck with recovery tools if I do some wrong commands and it doesn’t boot anymore.

How did you make the image? using dd? when you connect the drive directly to the computer, can you see the partitions from there or is the partition table corrupted for you also?

Thanks

I made this by  http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud/How-can-I-make-the-virgin-disk-imgae-of-My-Cloud-2TB/td-p/636917.

And I don’t know how to fix your problem.

Hi WSGVET,

I’ve been trying to unbrick my own WDMC 2TB and could use your image.
Is the link still alive?

If not, would you mind posting it again?
Thanks!

Another link!

Your image saved my bacon! Thanks!!!

I used it to restore my 3TB drive. Shows as 2TB for now, so all I need to do is to resize the ext4 to 3TB
