 Much better

May someone confirm that if I buy a new 3TB empty disk and restore the 3tb image on the disk using ununtu disks, then plug it in mycloud box, will it boot?

Thanks in advance

that is correct

Yes. It works.

I tested with WD 3TB GREEN HDD, it works.

I have a solution to make a virgin my cloud of any size from scratch. It is a bash script. See this thread.

Hi,

Could someone send me a boot.scr from /boot?

I have an issue with “unbrick process” - the script wants to run command: cp /usr/local/share/bootmd0.scr /root/boot.scr (for copy boot file from rootfs.img), but there is NO file like bootmd0.scr.

Please help.

any chanc for another upload of the 2TB Mybook Live IMage ?

Thank you very much for this quick-and-easy restore, which worked on my 4TB (with the 3TB) image very well!

I used gParted (xubuntu14.04 x64 Live DVD) to fix the last, large partition and to give it its “natural” super-size.

  2. Rootfs, RAID 0 (Mirror), part 2 (2GB)
  3. Swap partition (512MB)
  4. Data partition (All unused space)
  5. Kernel
  6. Backup kernel (Used if cant read kernel from previous partition)
  7. Boot konfig for bootloader (Barebox - Uboot v2.0)
  8. Backup boot config (Used if cant read config from previous partition)

* Partitions 6 and 8 - not important and not used.

Thanks for that.

Is this for the 2TB or the 3 TB now.

I’d appreciate to get the img’s for a 3TB somehow.

followed Fox_exe’s guide and everything worked perfect. Thanks a lot guys!

pay attention to checking md5 sum of rootfs.img as it gets corrupted if not unzipped from cmd line

Already fixed this - using tar instead of zip.

Another way (Not tested):

From windows:

  1. Download “Disk image”: http://sourceforge.net/projects/diskimage/
  2. In “Physical drives” choose WD drive.
  3. Choose “Partition 1”, press “Import from file”
  4. Agree to all messages (3)
  5. Switch to “Any file type” and choose rootfs.img
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for Partition 2.
  7. Repeat steps 3-5 for Partition 5, but choose “kernel.img”
  8. Repeat steps 3-5 for Partition 7, but choose “config.img”
  9. Close app. Shutdown PC. Place disk in WDMC, turn it on
  10. Profit?

Also you can try “dd for windows”:

  1. Download DD: http://www.chrysocome.net/downloads/dd-0.5.zip and unzip to any folder. (C:\dd for example)
  2. Run “Command promt” (Start - All programs - Standart - command promt - right click - Run as administrator.)
  3. Type  cd C:\dd
  4. Type  dd --list.  Find your WD disk (For exapmle: \?\Device\ Harddisk1 )
  5. dd if=c:\dd\rootfs.img of=\?\Device\ Harddisk1 \Partition0 bs=1M --size --progress
  6. dd if=c:\dd\rootfs.img of=\?\Device\ Harddisk1 \Partition1 bs=1M --size --progress
  7. dd if=c:\dd\kernel.img of=\?\Device\ Harddisk1 \Partition4 bs=1M --size --progress
  8. dd if=c:\dd\config.img of=\?\Device\ Harddisk1 \Partition6 bs=1M --size --progress
  9. exit
  10. Shutdown PC. Place disk in WDMC, turn it on.
  11. Profit?
