Windows 10 sees one ex2 ultra but not the other

I purchased a My Cloud EX2 Ultra a couple of months ago and had it all setup, showing up as a “Computer” on the network and I had mapped drives to various shares on the device.

I joined the Beta Program for OS5 and was sent an additional EX2 Ultra to test with. I upgraded the firmware / OS to Version 5 and now this device shows on Windows 10 as both a “Computer” and a “Storage” device. I have no problems seeing this device in the Network File explorer and I can map network drives to this NAS with no problems

Around the same time I received the second device, I upgraded the firmware on my first device to 2.40.155 and while I didn’t notice it right away, I believe the firmware upgrade caused this device to stop showing on the network file explorer. It shows up as a “Storage” device, and I can access the device from a web browser using the IP address, but nothing I have done has fixed the issue where the device is no longer available to use for mapping network drives and I am unable to push anything to the device from Windows 10. I have tried EVERY SINGLE tip and trip that I can find about this topic and none of them have worked. I made NO changes to the network or the device before having this problem.

I NEED HELP!!!

I have found that the current generations of public firmware for the mycloud devices are really NOT liked by file explorer in windows. I have given up trying to see them in file explorer.

I access all my mycloud devices by typing the “\devicename” (thats a double slash) or by typing the IP address “192.168.whatever.whatever”.

I believe (but have not tested) you can map drives using this protocol as well.

Thank you, that worked. I was actually already trying that but used the // instead of the \. Switching between Linux and Windows screws up my thinking sometimes.

Thanks again

Interesting enough to note that once I entered \ and mapped a network drive, the device showed up in the file explorer. Go figure… Great tip.

Don’t count on it staying there. . . . .I find that once I “find” a device, it only stays in the explorer window until the next time the machine is rebooted.
