I was able to map network drives to My Cloud running OS5. Sometime in the last 30 days, this has stopped working. I’m on Win 11 Pro Build 10.0.26200. I can ping the device using IP or name, I can see it under Computer within Network in File Explorer. The browser opens the device properly. I’ve tried many things, no luck. Same problem across multiple windows 11 computers. Help please.
What exact model is your NAS? What error is displayed? Have you made any recent changes to anything on your network?
My device is a WD My Cloud 4 TB WDBCTL0040HWT-BESN
Error is “Windows cannot access \\… Error code 0x80070035 The network part was not found”
No recent changes to my network.
Thanks in advance
Did you do recent Windows update? Sounds like:
No. I’m currently running Windows 11 Pro build 10.0.26200, which corresponds to Windows 11, Version 25H2 (2025 Update).
I’m trying the solutions in that microsoft article.
ftp is working, but not stable enough for a file sync.
Strangely, when I try to change my share from public and then give specific permissions to user, the OS5.33.102 says its working, but if I change to another share and then come back, the change hasn’t stuck.
looks like windows network sharing issue, try to remap the drive and check settings and clear cache.
This is a problem on the WD machine, not on the browser. I cannot change the status of a share from public. Also, 24H2 was installed over a year back, this problem has recently surfaced
Are you using the default Public Share on the My Cloud? If so, WD may prevent the user from changing that default Public Share from Public to Private. One workaround is to create another Share on the My Cloud where you can set it to Private then copy everything from the Public Share into that now Private new Share.
To confirm, have you tried mapping the Share using the My Cloud’s IP address? (Ex: \\192.168.1.10\Public\)
Other troubleshooting suggestions.
- Delete any saved My Cloud credentials in the Windows Credentials Manager.
- Try using a non Windows computer to map a share if one is available.
- Make sure you are not trying to map the My Cloud’s DLNA media server (Twonky) directories, that you are using SMB to access non DLNA media server directories.
- Last resort, perform a 40 second reset on the My Cloud to return it to default settings. A 40 second reset should be non data destructive.

How to Access and Map a WD Network Drive on Windows 11
Check your SMB settings first — WD My Cloud OS5 frequently breaks mapped network drives after firmware updates. Match SMB versions on your NAS and Windows. Clear old saved NAS credentials inside Windows Credential Manager, then re-map the drive manually using the NAS IP address. If browsing triggers glitches, look up troubleshooting for Windows Explorer has stopped working.
