Windows cannot access \\WDMYCLOUD

Hey All,

I’ve recently upgraded from Win10 to Win11, but I’m having trouble with viewing the drive in explorer. I’ve followed everything in the below forum posts but it doesn’t seem to work.

I’m definitely on the same workgroup and it worked fine in Win10 and never had to alter any settings, below is the error I get (0x80070035)

When I login to mycloud and click settings then configure device and users, I get the below error stating I’m not on the network.

Slightly pulling my hair out, any ideas?

What specific My Cloud device do you have?
Can you access the My Cloud Dashboard?
What firmware version is the My Cloud running?
Can you access the My Cloud by it’s IP address?
Just to confirm, you have enabled SMB1.0 on Windows 11?
Example:
smb1

Can you access the My Cloud Dashboard ?
Yes, no issues there

What firmware version is the My Cloud running?
5.29.102 (device tells me this is up to date)

Can you access the My Cloud by it’s IP address?
Yes, I have full access

Just to confirm, you have enabled SMB1.0 on Windows 11?
Yes, as per the image above

I followed both knowledge based articles previously that you linked and no luck

If you have Windows 11 24H2 then its possible you’re experiencing the Samba issue others are experiencing (since May 2024). Microsoft apparently made a change to its Samba (SMB) protocol in Windows 11 that is causing some issues. Some suggested workarounds in the following Microsoft link:

PS: Another possible suggested fix, even though it references slow SMB speed, is mentioned in the following link:

Other possible suggestions are to change the SMB version in the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings > Network > Windows Services section. Or possibly even editing the My Cloud smb.conf file using SSH to specify specific SMB min and max versions to be used.

You have OS5 but you posted your topic under OS3. Is \\WDMYCLOUD the name for your device? Do you already have Windows 11 Home or Pro 24H2?

Thanks so much! I’ve marked the solution, I am on W11 Home 24H2 so I didn’t have access to gpedit, but those 2 PowerShell commands have solved it!
