WD My Cloud desktop app failed to install

I recently purchased a My Cloud 2t Drive. Installation went flawless with one exception. I have the desktop software installed on 2 remote computers and a local lap top, with no problems. I also have a WinBook TW802 running Windows 8.1 and the desktop software just will not install.

I receive an error message “WD My Cloud desktop app failed to install, contact technical support” Of course Tech Support was totally useless, they have no idea why the software won’t install. My son also has the same computer with the same issue.

I have contacted Microcenter and again they know nothing.

I’ve followed all forums here addressing this issue and no success.

I’m posting this as a last ditch effort to see if anyone can help.

Thanks

Hello, Can you confirm with the manufacturer of your tablet if it uses an ARM processor or a x86 or x64 standard processor?

There can be many things preventing an executable from installing.

Do you have anything such a virus, end point protection programs installed?? try stopping all non escential programs.

Also, have you provided the relevent information to support?  Are you using native Windows 8.1 (which most manufactuers obtain from MicroSoft, or OEM will all sorts of add-ons installed?

Most software vendots QA the MicroSoft 8.1 OS and not the OEM from the hardware vendors.

I have the exact same problem.

I contacted WD support and they were also not able to help.   We did stop the antivirus and tried to install, with the exact same result.

The only suggestion they had was try to install when  a version of the app is available.   I now tried 2 new versions with exact same reusult.

The Winbook does see the WD My Cloud drive and I can access using my local network IP address.

The WD Quick View installs and works just fine, but no My Cloud app.

The “System” reports the Processor is an “Intel(R) Atom™ Z3735D @ 1.333 Ghz”, with 32-bit Operating System, x64-based processor.  Operating system is “Windows 8.1 with Bing”.

The app works on my desktop and laptop running Windows 7 and works on my I-PAD.

The solution that works for me is to run the WD My Cloud app file WDMyCloud_win in compatibility mode of W7,
