Hi. I have just bought new ex2 ultra and two 3tb wd red drives. After powering up and some time like 3 mins or so, doth hd ligts turned red. Power light is blue. It does not appear on computer too. Ive tried to reinsert drives and it did not help. Tried to reset unit. It did not help too. What could be the problem. Network is ok as i use same port for ap. Tried to change cable too. Can it be faulty drives?
First you need to set the drives. As you dont have a pre-configured unit. So you need to setup the RAID mode.
So go to the device page. login with default password. and then set the raid mode under storage. Usually being new Device. It will walk you through the setup process. Where you will have to format the drives bit slow process and then once setup done with the required RAID setup drives and volumes are created based on the RAID 0/1 will have 1 volume but JBOD will have 2 volume’s. As it is not backup recovery .
