Hey folks,
My WD My Cloud (OS5) is nonresponsive every morning (latest I’ve used it is at 4am, earliest Ive checked is 8am) and does not open the web interface or the File share until I power cycle (take out power and re power).
Can’t see anything in extended logs, the only thing that shows up is power failure at the time when I power cycle. I’ve noticed the network LEDs are still blinking when it is unresponsive, and the device can still be pingged, but no SSH access either.
Before I do a fresh install of the OS and restore it to system settings, is there any other way to check what might be happening and what I can do to resolve it?
Thanks in advanced!
What specific My Cloud model do you have? The second gen single bay (general subject of this subforum) or one of the multi bay My Cloud models?
Are you running any Apps (see the My Cloud Dashboard > Apps tab)?
Do you have a local computer performing a backup or similar data intensive process to the My Cloud prior to the device becoming unresponsive?
Have you configured the local network router or DHCP server to issue a fixed/reserved IP address for the My Cloud?
Have you tried a System Only reset or 40 second pin reset? Sometimes the reset can fix weird issues.
It’s the second-gen single bay 4 TB version.
The apps are Plex and Transmission, but those hadn’t been updated or changed before the issue started happening.
I initially thought it was a time machine-related issue, so I disabled that, but the issue still continued.
It’s DHCP with a reserved IP. The address does not overlap with anything else from what I can see during a network scan.
I haven’t tried either of those options @Bennor, which one would you recommend?
If you can access the My Cloud Dashboard, just do a System Only reset. Either one generally performs the same action(s).
