USB external drives show 0 bytes used 0 bytes capacity

I have a My Book Live Duo Personal Cloud Storage 4 TB NAS.
Firmware version MyBookLiveDuo 02.43.10-048 : Core F/W.
I’ve connected a Seagate 4 TB external HD to the usb port on The MY Book.
The My Book recognizes the Seagate but is unable to create a share and shows the Seagate as 0 bytes used with 0 bytes capacity. I’ve tried other Seagate External 4 TB drives with the same result. The drives where GPI and NTFS format. BUT I am able to connect a Western Digital Model: My Book 1110: 2 TB usb HD. The MyBook recognizes the drive AND shows bytes used(340 MB) and capacity.(2 TB)
Unable to find what is causing my problem, but I suspect that it is a firmware issue.
The MyBook Duo will recognize usb memory sticks with no problem.
