I have followed all the instructions on the WD support website, done a factory reset of My Cloud, and tried manually upgrading to OS 5 using a file sent to me by WD Support - and all have failed with the same error message: Verify firmware fail. Does anyone have any suggestions as nothing Support provides is working!
What specific My Cloud model are you using? WD indicates the following models support OS 5.
My Cloud EX2 Ultra
My Cloud EX4100
My Cloud PR2100
My Cloud PR4100
My Cloud DL2100
My Cloud DL4100
My Cloud EX2100
My Cloud (Firmware 2.xx.xxx)
My Cloud Mirror Gen 2
Note: The first generation single bay/single drive My Cloud (P/N: WDBCTLxxxxxxx- 00 , FW 04.xx.xx) cannot be updated (currently) to OS5. Nor can that model be updated to the OS3 v2.x firmware. 04.05.00-342 (09/04/2019) is the latest current firmware version for the first gen single bay/single drive My Cloud.
Suggestions to try. Perform a 40 second reset. How to Reset a My Cloud Device If the My Cloud capacity is low, try freeing up some space. Perform the upgrade from a different web browser. Disable all browser addon’s and extensions prior to attempting to update the My Cloud firmware. Temporarily disable any third party security software on the computer prior to trying to update the My Cloud firmware.
Hi
My device is a My Cloud (Firmware 2.41.116).
I have tried performing the upgrade using both Chrome and Edge browsers with all extensions disabled and security software turned off but get the same error message. So this is still not working.

A suggestion. Read through, if you haven’t done so already, all the issues, particularly with indexing, that quite a few are experiencing with the My Cloud units including the single bay v2.x version before making the leap to trying to install OS5. Lots of problems that have caused some to try and revert back to the OS3/v2.x firmware. See the many complaints in the OS5 subforums.

If one really wants to update to OS5 and still cannot update to OS5 then one may need to open a support case (https://support-en.wd.com/app/account/dashboard), instruct the My Cloud to produce the log files, then send the log files to WD Support to see if they can figure out why you cannot update to OS5 from the OS3 v2.x firmware.
Also note that if one has unofficially modified their My Cloud firmware using SSH that too could possibly prevent or interfere with attempting to update to OS5 from OS3/v2.x firmware.
Thanks
I’ve decided to give up and stay with OS3. Looks like too many problems with OS5!
