it’s been five months after I bought this 4TB WDMyCloud.
even my WD not running all the time. but now, I couldn’t access my drive.
it’s only solid white state in front panel LED and sometimes blinking.
try to reset with 4 Second Reset (Reset with Power On) and also 40 Second Reset (Reset with Power Off), but no luck no respon at all
is this product really so vulnerable?
is there really nothing I can do to troubleshoot? or even to backup my 4TB data.
I search on this community and found all problem with no solution
Per the User Manual for the My Cloud (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/?id=439&type=25) a solid white front LED indicates the My Cloud is Initializing:
• Device has begun loading the Operating System (OS).
• Firmware update in progress.
A blinking white front LED indicates the My Cloud is Powering up:
• Displays when you first apply power to the unit.
• Reset pressed.
First steps is to ensure the My Cloud is properly connected to the router/gateway. That the LED’s on the back of the My Cloud are lit. See the User Manual for what each of the back LED status lights indicate. Check the router’s administration page to see if the My Cloud is being issued an IP address. Replace the Ethernet cable between the My Cloud and the router. Try a different networking port on the back of the My Cloud. Try connecting the My Cloud direct to the computer’s networking port. If one’s broadband provider is AT&T Uverse and they are using an AT&T Uverse router/gateway try putting an Ethernet Switch in between the My Cloud and the AT&T supplied router/gateway.
If one had previously enabled SSH within the My Cloud they might be able to use SSH to access the My Cloud even though the front LED is not Blue or the My Cloud cannot be reached in the normal fashion.
Like any device with a hard drive, that hard drive can fail or become corrupted. If the My Cloud OS has become corrupted there are a variety of unbricking methods that one can try. Search the forum for “unbrick” to find those discussions. SO long as the hard drive isn’t physically damaged and or the user data partition corrupted one could as a last resort (and which will void the warranty) remove the hard drive from the My Cloud enclosure and attach it, using either a cheap SATA to USB adapter/enclosure or to a spare SATA cable/port on their desktop PC, to either a Linux PC or a computer with the proper Linux drivers to read Linux formatted hard drives. Once done so one can then backup or copy off their user data from the My Cloud hard drive and or unbrick the My Cloud hard drive.
