My EX4 had been going for some time and finally died. I wasn’t worried about the data because it was the EX4 that was going, not my drives. I’m trying to read the drive in a simple enclosure, but i’m getting a message saying the drive needs to be formatted first. If I purchase a new WD NAS, will I be able to access my date? Is there another way? Thank you.

I would suggest you to purchase a new My Cloud EX4 enclosure as these drives come with RAID controller so they will only work on the same enclosure.
