I tried to update firmware to the latest, but upon doing so the MyCloud drive stopped responding and I received an error message. Since this failure, I can no longer access my shares but can access my dashboard. I have read some where that you are able to restore the factory firmware that was on it when you purchased it. Does anyone know how I am able to do this, as I cannot find this article anymore?
What My Cloud model do you have? If single bay My Cloud is it first generation (v3.x/v4.x) or second generation (v2.x)?
What is the specific error message you receive?
What color is the front LED?
Have you tried a 40 second reset?
If you can access the My Cloud Dashboard one can reflash the firmware on the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings > Firmware page. One can download the My Cloud firmware file from the WD Support Website Download section.
It is a first gen model.
Error is:
Timeout; waiting for reboot. Verify that the LED on the front of your device is not red; then find the device on the network and reinitialize the web user interface. If the LED is red, reboot your drive manually. (31001)
It is a steady blue.
I have tried a 40 second reset, but it has not made any difference,
