New My Cloud EX4, drives will not format

Just bought an EX4, and I cannnot get the drives to format.  I have 4 1TB WD Red drives installed correctly.  The web interface works, and detects the model and serial numbers for each drive, but every time I try to go to the RAID page on the web interface, it automatically starts formatting the drives.  I have let it sit for several hours, and it never gets beyond “Initializing: 0%”  

 

What’s the deal?  Do I have a defective drive that is tripping out the RAID driver or something?  Any advice would be appreciated.

I  would try performing a system only factory restore and then attempting to create the RAID again. If this doesn’t work I would connect each drive to the computer to test them for possible hardware failure.
