So this morning my MyCloudEX2Ultra had been automagically upgraded to Firmware 5.09.115 (since I have them enabled by default). Now problem occurred, in the dashboard it started to notify me with a HDD failure, with Drive Status of Fault? While I barely don’t have any clues of what’s been going on?
I also faced the same issue today morning. Device was not reachable. Rebooted and checked. Drive Status is “Fault”. Ran SMART Check and it was clear and no issue. Now ran Complete test. It also no error. Can anyone help with whats the issue is. or firmware cause?
Having the same problem. HDD LED 1 is steady red (there is nothing in the manual about steady red, only flashing red.
I also noticed Fan speed is 0 RPM, not sure if this means anything.
I run system test and both drives passed.
Not sure what is going on but I can’t have all my data stored in an unreliable system.
BTW - after reboot the red light disappears and “Diagnostics” in the Home page is HEALTHY.
Run a full disk test from settings → utilities (not diagnostics) and observe for a few days if the issue recurs, maybe a fault positive on account of a WD issue or an odd bad sector which was remapped. I had a similar one-off red 6 months back which resolved on reboot. I’ve since moved to Synology but the same disk passes full disk SMART test twice a month since then with no issues.
I did that, as well as System Test, both PASSED, which makes me even more worried. How can all ‘self’ tests PASS and this thing happen (BTW - it’s the 2nd time this is happening in the last couple of months)?
Does anyone know? Can someone please help, someone with a bit more knowledge? This is still happening. All tests show everything is fine, reboot clears the led, few weeks later it comes back.
It’s always the middle LED (Disk 1).
If all built-in “tests” PASS, what’s my next move?
How do I know if there is really a problem (since the tests PASS) or if it’s just a bug that triggers the error for no real reason?
How do I know that the problem - if there is one - is with the HDD itself and not something in the system, hardware, operating sysytem, etc?
Shall I spend money on a new red HDD to replace HDD1 and take a risk (in case the problem is not in the HDD), or shall I just dump this mediocare “NAS” and invest in something more reliable?
Hope someone can assist. I know there are many EX2 owners with the same issue.
