MyCloud Setup

Hi

Like many posts i see here, i too am having difficulties setting up this Cloud NAS. I have installed the WD Access and i can connect to it. It is connected to my router and according to my dashboard settings, it is connected to the internet. When i go to network settings, i can see the NAS and access the files. The problem issetting it up for internet or cloud access…

All settings are correct and checked to allow cloud access
the device dashboard tells me i have internet connection

when i go to the mycloud.com and login, i have nothing there…

i have tried running the WD setup software but it cant find the device connected to the router

i have also done a complete restore and started from scratch to see if i can get it working but i cant

Has anyone else found a solution to connect to the deveice over internet?

Thanks

Nacho

What type of router do you have and who is your internet provider? Are you on Windows 10, Apple or what device?

Is your My Cloud Version 2.X or 4.X?

Hi

my Router is a Motorola SURFBoard SBG6580
ISP is TWC
Im using Windows 10
Device is 4TB MyCloud

This did work but since i had to change my router, it stopped. the Device shows that it is connected to the internet but nothing happens. Even if i try to resend user details, i get a failed error message-

Failed to update user. (400068)

i cannot find any details on allowing a connection through the firewall. ive currently turned off the forewall on the router and restarted it but its just the same

cheers

Nigel

Is your Modem/Router provided by TWC? If it is I suggest you buy your own Modem and Router.

I have TWC/Charter=Spectrum but I own my Modem and Router. My Modem is a Motorola Surfboard eXtreme SB6121 and my router is a Linksys WRT 1900 AC.

Putting a network switch between your Modem/Router and your My Cloud might help.

What type of internet access is it reporting (Settings/General/Cloud Access/Connection Status)?

  • port forwarding?
  • relay mode?

Have your configured the port forwarding ports on the MyCloud, and made matching changes to the port forwarding rules on your router?

Have you enabled UPnP control on your router?

So it’s something to do with the new router, or the act of changing the router, then.

Have you tried disabling cloud access, and then re-enabling it? If you left it enabled whilst you changed your router, things may be a bit confused.

Hi

A guy from Western Digital connected with me yesterday and got it working. Basically, he did everything i did (or so it seemed) and it started to work. The process was-

system reset (not a full reset)
when registering, leave admin username & password blank
connect to mycloud
add username password there instead

cheers

For some reason going to mycloud.com no longer works for me. Instead of displaying the standard login screen, it go to wdc.com now. I checked my cloud connections within the MyCloud interface and ensured the uPNP port forwarding have not changed. Any suggestions??

Yeah there currently is some kind of routing problem. When I go to MyCloud.com it attempts to go to the following address: http://www.mycloud.com/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/learn/

Try the following it currently works for me: http://www.wd2go.com

If you are having issues logging into http://mycloud.com , please use http://files.mycloud.com to login

If you are having issues trying to setup your device using My Cloud, please use My Cloud OS3 End of Service | Western Digital

WD is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this interruption may have caused. If you have questions, or need assistance, please contact Western Digital support: Contact Support | WD Support

Thank you that works.
