MyCloud Home Duo Not Available to Windows 11

We are replacing an out-of-support old MyCloud with a MyCloud Home Duo on Windows 11. This will act as a repository for a RoboCopy based backup routine run on demand.

I tried to follow a WD online article in order to create a private share by putting the unit name in Explorer’s address line as \MYCLOUD-<123456> but was not given an option to setup access credentials in Credentials Manager.
I then went into Credential Manager directly and added credentials for the unit.

However, I can still find no method available to me to create a private share on the MyCloud Home Duo unit.

I have raised the issue directly with WD, but received no response.

Can you help please?

Hope this link helps. This search did not work and show what came up for me, as WD showed they are performing updates.

Here’s the link to the user manual. If it’s not the right model, just search the WD site for the correct one.

You need to create the share’s on the Duo first, then “map” the drive to Windows using Explorer.

Thanks for your responses. I will be able to check this out in two or three days.

Have you tried the simple official Western Digital basic introductory video for the ‘Home’ user of the MCH and MCHD? It introduced the local access for users.

A private share is created when an owner or authorized user is provisioned for local access.

Caveat Emptor

  1. The MCH and MCHD are NOT My Cloud OS5 devices.
  2. The MCH and MCHD are near their End of Life period and a similar device (ibi Photomanager) using the same firmware and OS has seen its support ended and internet access disabled.

Thanks to all those who responded. Using the answers provided I have now determined how to access the MyCloud Home dashboard, enable local network access, and create the user and share I need.
