All I am trying to do is view an image on my MyCloud Android app. Several images say “cannot access file” and will not show up. They are JPEGS and I am using a Galaxy S8 with Android Version 9. The MyCloud app version is 4.4.27. My device is a WD MYCloudEX2 Ultra running latest software. I have tried rebooting it but that did nothing. I have also tried removing the files from the device and then putting them back. Image thumbnails do show, and when I select the image it previews very briefly, I am assuming the thumbnail, but then it goes black and says in very tiny text in the middle “cannot access file.”
@tangre You need to go back to the WD Community and post under NAS, use the sub-forum for your device.
If you haven’t done so already, try copying the image file to your mobile device rather than trying to open it up within the app. Once copied to your mobile device, try opening it up in the mobile device’s default image/media app. If that app can open the image it would indicate a problem with the WD app itself trying to open that image file. Could be the image file is encoded with a JPEG codec the WD app doesn’t support.
If the default image app cannot open the image file that would indicate perhaps there is something wrong with the image file or again it was encoded with a codec the default app doesn’t support.
And because you are using a EX2 you may want to see the dedicated subforum for the EX2 to see if there is specific discussions related to your issue. One can use the forum search feature, magnifying glass icon upper right, to search the subforum for past discussions related to your issue. The My Cloud subforum typicaly discusses the single bay/single drive My Cloud devices.
And there is a specific subforum for the WD My Cloud mobile apps as well that may hold further discussions related to your issue.
