Been working on this for 3 weeks. Up until the last week of Feb., my cloud seemed to be working fine. I had to replace a bad router March 1st and since then I have an issue that others seem to be having.
In SW - my cloud does not show up as a target, only dropbox. The network recognizes it and I can access files etc, dashboard. I upgraded to the latest firmware last night, and after it re-booted my cloud showed up in target backup and then disapperared after about ten minutes.
I have found if I manually reboot mycloud (disconnect power supply and plug back in) it will show up briefly and then disappear.
Does anyone have solutions? Is it a software problem?
Jeff
Hello,
Was the unit setup with a static ip on the previews router? If yes, try setting a new one since the ip range might be a bit different.
If the unit was not setup with a static ip, try resetting the unit so it will refresh the connection with the new router.

OK - here is what I did
Switched MyCloud to DHCP from static (the old ip address was assigned by the new router)
Disconnected the power to mycloud
Power cycled router -
Plugged in power to mycloud
Looked for mycloud in dhcp table on router - it assigned it the same address as before
Can now see mycloud in targets on all 3 computers. Will have to wait and see if it stays that way.
Should I leave mycloud on static for now?

I had this problem, and received these instructions from WD support. Now my device is showing as a backup target in WD Smartware and works perfectly:
Verify that the necessary Network Services are enabled by opening the Start Menu and typing “Services.msc” on the Search bar and pressing Enter. This will open the Services control panel. You will see all the services on your computer listed here. Please verify that all Network related services are up and running correctly. You will verify the following:
-SSDP Discovery
-Network Access Protection Agent
-Network Connections
-Network List Service
-Network Location Awareness
-Network Store Interface Service
-UPnP Device Host
- Work Station
- Server
- Computer Browser
- Net. TCP Port Sharing Service
All of these Services, under Status, need to be on “Automatic” in order to be working correctly. If any of those Services show as being “Disabled” under the Status area, you will need to enable it. To do this, you right click on top of the Service, and click on “Properties”. After that, on “Startup Type”, set it to Automatic, and then close it. After this is done, you will need to restart the computer.

Thank you a lot:
After closing UPnP Device Host service on W7, I lost access to MyCloud from SmartWare.
Because of your post, I changed only SSDP Discovery to manual run enabled, leaving UPnP service disabled.
Everything is working perfect from now.
Cheers,
