Hello friends…I am trying to retrieve media files from a WD MyCloud device but the online interface is deprecated (awesome!). So I connect the device directly to my PC and see that the media files are managed by a tool called “Twonky.” I cannot find a way to move the media files from Twonky to my PC or any other destination… Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
It doesn’t sound like you have a My Cloud Home. What WD device do you own? If it’s the 1st generation single bay My Cloud, then whatever you have in Twonky comes from your My Cloud device. See example image below. Click on, tap or activate image to enlarge it.
It is a MyCloud home. I do not see that windows explorer directory that you are showing.
Is your device like the one of the picture (same colors also)?
Do you own what Neisi showed in his image, or do you own a WDMYCLOUD 1st Generation? See image below.
no solid white
Connect your device to your router and give it a Static/Reserved IP address. Then check to see if it shows on your network. See images below.
WDMYCLOUD shows on my network.
A click on WDMYCLOUD opens my shares.
First, thanks so much for helping me with this! I am so concerned that I won’t be able to access my family photos. These photos show what I am seeing.
This is the interface I see when I click WDMYCloud
You can right clik the WDcloud icon and then click open. If you dont have created a username and password, it is admin/admin. You now have access to your photo.
@Eivin
To whom are you responding to? This topic was started about a year ago. I hope the OP has found what he/she was asking about.
We have the same problem. We have an WDMyCloud - older model. The device shows up in File Explorer, but it only has the option to “view device webpage”.
Is there any way to access the files and even transfer them, as the webpage option is unusable to manage the files.
Many thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.
Thank you for the very quick response. I have been unable to connect my device with these options, but am on wifi. My husband found another workaround and was able to create a shortcut on his computer (ethernet connection) and can now view all files on his device via File Explorer. So we’re good for now.
Again thank you again for the fast response.
Many thanks.
