Is my MyCloud Home faulty?

Hi, I purchased a 4TB MyCloud Home this morning. It’s been plugged into my router for about 30 minutes now, and I still don’t have a blue light, only a solid white light.

I’ve managed to set the device up (created an account, changed the device name etc) and my MacBook Pro can see/access the device. I’ve also managed to copy a file onto it.

However, I cannot access the Dashboard at all. After doing some research, I figured I’d try reseting the device. I put a pin into the reset hole for 45 seconds - nothing happened on the device at all. I’ve tried rebooting the router, that didn’t help. I wanted to reboot the HD, but there’s no option to - there was when I set it up, but now it’s gone from the main screen! This device is crazy!

Am I doing something wrong here? Shouldn’t I have a blue light? Can anyone give some advice for a new user?

Never mind. I’ve been reading more and more on these forums about people having the solid white light - I’m not going to risk it. I’m taking this back tomorrow for a refund. Sorry for wasting time on here; I would have deleted my post but I can’t find that option anywhere…

@Laowai184 The My Cloud Home is not a My Cloud. Visit the Learning Center and read more about the My Cloud Home plus the User Manual. I suggest watching the Videos too.

The LED does not turn blue. I don’t own one, but, I am pretty sure there is a topic about it and it does not have a dashboard. Found the info, read this, My Cloud Home: Cannot Access Dashboard

I’m surprised - I didn’t realise it had no dashboard. I’d watched a lot of videos before buying and I’d looked at the WD website; I just didn’t pick up on the fact there’s a MyCloud and a MyCloud home.

In any case, I still can’t reset the device - I’ve held that reset button in for almost two minutes and nothing has happened, so something is definitely not right. The manual states that the device will return to factory state - not in my case.
