Internal Server error 500

Also let them know about this thread. I didn’t come here until a couple of days ago and I’ve had a ticket open, working with them since May 5. What they were having me try makes me feel that all at the support desk don’t know that this is an issue for more than one.

I think the issue seems to be related to Transmission app. If that is running on your wd device the system gets this error. In case I have turned the app off, the NAS seems to be stable.

Guys!!! If anybody can open a ticket in support would be great… I tried to create an account there and got 404. After that my NAS serial number was not found. While trying to register (Estonia) my phone number was too short to insert the correct one… has WD lost their quality?

Thank you for the information mentioned here. I now know that it wasn’t my fault that I received the ‘500’ error. What remains is: where can I find the 5.30.103 FW? Can someone point me to the right place, or maybe even send me the FW? Then it will be power off, wait. And hope that I can access the settings then.

Go to the product page for your model. It will show all the downloads for it including the firmware.

If your unit is still under warranty, contact WD support directly and open a ticket. The more people who report this, the faster WD may respond.

On the WD website, I do: Products >> NAS >> My cloud EX2 Ultra >> Support & Resources >> Previous Versions >> , but there I only see “Current Firmware” wich leads me to >> version 5.31.101 and I don’t want that, I’m looking for 5.30.103

I’m clearly doing something wrong…

Please Help !

See here >>>5.30.103<<<

Thanks. That was what I was looking for !!

I notice the same behavior. Turn off Transmission seems to fix the problem.

Hi! Same problem here, also downgraded. Interestingly, on my Galaxy Tab S8 with Opera, the login works, when the PC only gets 500 internal server error.

Waiting for a new update!

If the reason for the server error has its root in using the transmission app of the NAS, there will be no update of the firmware!

The NAS downloads a nine years old version of that app and the app probably has its own server which might collide with server of the NAS.

WD declares, that the owners of all apps are responsible for updates. Therefore only a proof that the server of WD is causing the errors will result in a fix of the firmware.

I do not know about anything about a transmission app.
The error appears, when I enter the mycloud ip address into the browser (opera, edge, firefox, chrome).
Instead of the login screen, only internal server error 500 appears. After rebooting, you can connect for a limited time before the error appears again. Smb shares are still working on the PC, when error 500 appears.

This is definitely a firmware fault.

More precise: I do not have installed the transmission app.

Update: Although I deactivated Transmission, error 500 reappeared.

Several reasons can cause every unexpected malfunctioning: hardware problems for example.

Maybe storing the configuration of your NAS, then resetting to factory defaults and then restoring the configuration of your NAS by the saved data, will eliminate the symptons you describe. But especially in case of hardware problems, that might also result in all your data being unreachable afterwards.

Therefore it is not that easy to prove a change in the firmware to be the reason for some malfunctioning.

Deinstalling transmission and restarting the NAS as well as lowest possible restoring to factory defaults—with storing and restoring the configuration—eliminated the server errors on my EX4100.

Turning off the transmission app may not be enough.

I`m also experiencing 500 Internal Server Error when I try to go to portal page of NAS. The flaw started to show up after ultimate firmware update. I never installed Transmission app. My device is Single Bay Gen2

I found the simplest fix, not the best, is to restart the NAS. The best is for WDC to fix the firmware.
You will be able to connect to it after the restart. I found that the amount of time that you can connect is inconsistent. I’m not sure if it’s a timing thing or the number of times that you attempt to connect to the NAS. Even if you get the 500 error , you can still connect to the shares. I use it for some small backups and PLEX. I can still access the shares and PLEX when it reaches this point.

You can reboot it from My Cloud OS5 on your phone or from the web. I’d do this over powering it down. It’s just cleaner.

It also does not depend on how you connect to the NAS. Once I get the error, I get the same error from different browsers on a windows PC, iPad and iPhone.

I agree - it started after the last firmware update.

It definitely started after the last firmware update at the end of April.
