Ex2 ultra shows up in Win 10 as Storage, not as computer

Unfortunately I already tried that solution and it did not resolve the issue on either of my computers.

This is also happening on another computer in the house running Windows 8. As in, it shows up under storage and not under computer, and therefore cannot be mapped as a network drive, so I am beginning to think it is a problem with the NAS itself, or perhaps an issue with out network. I am going to try setting it up with a temporary network from another router to see if that might be the case.

Update: I set up a temporary network with an extra router (reset to factory settings), and even on that network it has the same issue. So in my mind this means that the issue has to be with the NAS, as I have experienced the same issue on 2 different networks and 3 different computers running 2 different operating systems.

Michael and Liam,

You guys have forced me to make a screen shot so both of you see and believe what I have been telling you about looking in the left pane Network section for your NAS. Notice that it is just a picture of the Network section on my Win 10 (and my Win 7 shows the same things).

Shown is the Network tab opened and showing the six devices in my network, one device being the MyCloudDL2100 (my NAS). If I click on it I can see and access the contents of my NAS.

Why do I see this and you don’t? Likely because I have my network set up correctly and you don’t. Your task is to figure out why your network is not working like mine. Probably has something to do with mapping of devices.

mike27oct Thanks for the help, but we’ve literally been saying this since the beginning too. Michael even sent a screenshot with labels showing how they’re the same “computers” on the right pane. This whole thread is about how ours aren’t showing, so you literally writing 8 comments just to explain something we already knew isn’t helping.

But yes, the reason mine wasn’t working was something to do with the way my Windows 10 was set up. It’s working now though.

Liam,

So now that you resolved the Win 10 issue, you (like I) see your NAS under Network, right?

I have found a solution! Although, I would just like to say, mike, you were completely useless, didn’t seem to actually read our posts, and literally just restated the questions we were asking, thanks for the help :+1:!

The Solution:
My NAS already was showing up under network, so I knew it was definitely visible to the computer. When you go to map a network drive in File Explorer, you can use the ip address of the NAS with this format: “\<SHARED FOLDER NAME>” and it will add it just fine. If you do not know the ip address of your nas, you can find it through your router’s status page (there may be other ways to do this). Once you do that, choose a drive leter and hit enter and boom, the NAS is now mapped in file explorer. I am going to make a full writeup on this with screenshots and everything to help anyone else who might have the same problem as me in the future.

Not trying to be mean mike, but… you basically just wasted our time.

Wow, You also wasted my time, too, , because I have had my system mapped for over 10 years and it appears neither of you ever got yours mapped until now. So this is MY fault?

Look at it this way, I encouraged both of you to get off your cans and map your network!
