EX2 Ultra - no Internet access after update to OS5

Hello Everybody,
I have stupid problem with My Cloud EX2 Ultra device and I could not find similar topic on forum.
Here we go:
After firmware upgrade from OS3 to OS 5 (ver. 5.15.106) and I logged in to control panel (Settings → Network) I see message: “Network Status: No Internet access”, but despite that, I can access device’s content on mobile app or via web browser on my PC at https://os5.mycloud.com.
I can also remotely upload or delete files, change folder names etc.
On the main screen of control panel I also have message “Cloud Access: Connected”.

Well, for me it seems like there must be an internet connection working? Right?

Apart of annoying message “No Internet access”, other funcionalites that doesn’t work are:

  • check for updates
  • time server (NTP Service)
  • Apps installation

I tried to set up port forwarding but it didn’t help at all, so I came back to initial settings. My device is connected to router with static IP and UPnP funtionality on router is turned ON.

Has anyone experienced similar problem? Any advise how to sort it out and get rid of the message :No internet connection"?
I really hate situations that I don’t understand and want to avoid surprise with access to data one day in the future.
Thanks for help.
Beel

See below princreens showing the issue in detail:

  1. No internet connection? Really?

  2. Why then Cloud Access is working fine?

  3. But check for updates or NTP … doesn’t work:

  4. Fortunatelly access via web browser or mobile app is OK:

Please check the below KBA that explains it.

Hi, thanks for response. I think that it’s not the issue this time.
NAT is enebled on my router, and WAN-NAT Passtrough is also enabled for all services: PPTP, L2TP, IPSec, RTSP, H.323,SIP, PPPoE.
I’m getting tired.

Hi, thanks for response. Connection quality after test is marked as “excellent”. In KBA you provided, it says that “No internet connection message occurs when the My Cloud cannot connect to Google DNS Servers”
Well, that might be the case. but I have no idea how to make “My Cloud” to get connection? All my other devices at home are surfing on internet without any problem.
What is more funny… I just noticed that lates version of firmware was installed today (I have auto update enabled). How it could happen, when I still see “no internet” message? Everything alse works perfectly well: online access, cloud service etc, the only services that I identified that don’t work are manual check for firmware upgrades and sync. with NTP time server.

Hi, I am having the exact same issue as Beel… has anyone been able to resolve it? BTW, communication with WD support is like talking to a wall… they provided me with the same bs Google DNS article - twice, and that’s it from them :exploding_head:

Hi, I finally gave up. Except this annoying message „no internet connection” everything else works fine. I have remote access to data without any problem.
Morover - in „firmware” section I also have information that last update of firmware was performed succesfully:

Current Version
5.19.117
Last Update
Monday, 2022 January 10, 22:48:26

Well, that is strange because if I try to check updates manually, I get the message that I have no internet connection

Agree that WD support could be more proactive to sort out such issues.

Thanks for responding. My device came with OS 5 pre-installed. I could not update it to the latest version throught dashboard, just like you, so I downloaded the latest one from WDC website and ran it manually. I will leave the autoupdate ON and see if it actually updates itself in the future. I only use it for Time Machine backup and Plex (which I also installed manually). Both work fine, I can even access Plex from outside my network. It really seems like it might be some weird UI bug. Don’t want to waste any more time with it. I guess we’ll see what the future holds. Take care.

Was there ever an easy fix to this problem? I have the exact same problem as Beel.

Anyone have a solution? Because i have the same problem now
