EX2 not powering up

Hi,

I have recently purchased the My Cloud EX2 and followed the installation instructions.

However the power LED is not lighting up.

There is a green led flashint on the Ethernert port on the back of the device.

Can anyone offer any help please?

Hello and welcome to the community,

I recommend you turn the EX2 off then take both internal drives out and try to power it on again. Also make sure it is plugged in directly into a wall outlet.

Hi and thank you for the welcome and the quick reply.

Do I power it on with the drives removed?

Would this make the warranty invalid if I do this if I had to bring it back to the retailer?

OK so I took out the two drives and powered up the EX2

I now have a flashing blue LED but that has now turned to flashing yellow.

Should I power off, re-install the drives and try again?

I put both drives back in and powered up, but the unit would not power up.

I then took both back out, and put in drive # 1 and again it would not power up.

I took #1 back out and put in #2 and this time it did power up. The LED for drive 2 turned a solid blue.

So does this mean that drive # 1 is faulty and needs replacement?

Yeah, seems like a defective drive. If possible try to get it replaced with the place of purchase if not then WD will be more than happy to assist you on this.

How to get an RMA, (Return Merchandise Authorization) or replace a defective product under warranty
