Device Code Retrieval

Hi, Does anybody know how to interrogate MyCloud for the Device Code.? I’ve had my device for some years and I don’t remember getting a Device Code. I has worked fine up to recently when I bought a new PC and tried to set up the MyCloud. I’m asked for the Device Code before I can do anything. So, Can I get the code from the MyCloud device and if so, how? I’d appreciate any advice.

@Deego Do you own a WD MY CLOUD WDMyCloudImage or a My Cloud Home?

Device code? If you mean the nine digit code activation code, that is not required for setting up a My Cloud or connecting to a working My Cloud.

Important:

The 9 digit activation code cannot be found on, is not required and is not needed for the following WD Products:

  • My Passport, My Book, WD Elements, EasyStore, Gaming Drive

  • My Passport Wireless, Pro, SSD

  • My Book Live, My Book Live Duo

  • My Cloud, Mirror, Mirror Gen2, EX2, EX2 Ultra, EX4, EX2100/4100, DL2100/4100, PR2100/PR4100

Only the My Cloud Home and Home Duo use the nine digit activation code. The My Cloud Home is a completely different device than the My Cloud line of devices. If one has a My Cloud Home they should see the dedicated subforum for those devices since they are significantly different than the My Cloud line of devices.

If the My Cloud was previously setup and working with local network computers, there is no need to re-setup the My Cloud for a new computer. If using Windows 10 one should ensure SMB1.0/CIFS is enabled as Microsoft disables that setting in recent Windows 10 updates and on new Windows 10 installs. And make sure the Windows 10 Network Profile is set to Private and not Public.
