I have recently moved house. Because of a lack of space and power sockets near my router I have installed a TP Link RE220 WiFi extender and connected my WDmycloud to the extender.
Now, my problem is that I, the admin, can connect to the NAS via my iPad running iOS 13. I can connect to the drive via my Android phone.
However, my wife’s iPad, also running ios13, says that the drive is offline and so cannot connect.
Are you trying to access the My Cloud on the same local network that the mobile devices are connected to using WiFi?
What app are you using to connect to the My Cloud on the local network? The WD My Cloud app?
Have you tried removing the My Cloud entry in the app, and readding it by letting the app search the local network for the My Cloud?
If one is having trouble with remote access, from an off site location, to their My Cloud one may have to access the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings and disable remote access/cloud access, wait five to ten minutes, then reenable it. Also some broadband providers may block the default ports used for remote access to the My Cloud. In this case one as to change the remote access configuration in the My Cloud > Settings to Manual and use alternate external ports. Then configure port forwarding with the network router to pass those ports to the My Cloud.
I want assistance I bought a 24TB WD My Cloud PR4100 yesterday and am finding it IMPOSSIBLE to setup. Help from WD seems to be lacking. Can anyone tell me how I add files to this device and how I retrieve and view them. In essence how do I work this thing. I want it to back up my work and home files and data and access them remotely.
As you can see I am new to this and the WD guide tell me NOTHING.
If you are having trouble setting up the device see the User Manual for the PR4100, if you haven’t already, which explains how to setup the device and its various features.
Generally for local network access to these My Cloud devices one uses Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder. For remote access one should check the User Manual for the PR4100 device as it may have additional options beyond MyCloud.com web portal and the My Cloud app for iOS/Android. For the single bay/single drive My Cloud (the general subject of this subforum) one needs to first enable the remote access/cloud access option in the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings. Then configure each User (again created in the My Cloud Dashboard) for remote access. See either the User Manual or My Cloud Dashboard Help for more information on how to use the remote access/cloud access feature.
