Basically you can’t. Or at least very soon you won’t be able to, although it seems to have been implemented already.
The Gen 1 is on the old version of the firmware (OS3), which is obsolete and which WD no longer support. There is no option to update it to the new one (OS 5), and that is required for cloud access.
There was an email that WD sent out a week or two ago announcing all this, but basically their advice is to block/disable internet access to the device and only use the NAS via local access. Cloud access is not possible any more for the gen 1.
