Cannot reset admin password

After update to Os5, i saved the wrong password. Doing 4s reset does nothing, after 40s reset admin user wont reset. I need help to reset the admin to get into the dashboard. Is there any other way to reset admin password or i’m ****ed by WD firmware update? btw After the update the nas get disconnect from the pc after a few days (app still work), and the blue light blink non stop after reset/restart.

If one has forgotten the administrator account password for their My Cloud, not the MyCloud.com password as that is separate, then the general method is to perform a 4 second reset of the My Cloud device using the reset button on the back of the unit. See the following WD Support Knowledgebase Article for how to perform a reset of an OS5 My Cloud:

My Cloud OS 5: How to Reset a My Cloud OS 5 Device

Option A: 4 Second Reset (Reset with Power On)

The 4 Second Reset will reset the following:

  • Admin Password (no default password, new password enforced)
  • Network Mode (Default = DHCP )

Note: The 4 Second Reset will only reset the Admin Password. It will not reset the Admin User Name. In order to reset the Admin User Name perform Option B - the 40 Second Reset outlined below.

4s reset wont do anything, the blue light keep blinking and dashboard wont load. After 40s reset, the dashboard load but doesnt reset the admin user password, blue light blink non stop and after a while dash board wont load too. Maybe the dashboard wont load because of the indexing. The real problem is reset wont reset admin user so i cant access the nas (cant login to map network drive or turn on cloud sharing).

Many are complaining about the indexing issue in these OS5 subforums. The blinking font LED is one common complaint, inability to load the Dashboard or a sluggish Dashboard is another. Maybe as a troubleshooting step (if you haven’t done so already), leave the My Cloud alone so it finishes the ridiculously extraordinarily long indexing process and the front LED turns solid blue. That indexing is probably being retriggered each time one performs a reset on the My Cloud.

Currently the 4 second and 40 second reset are the official ways apparently to reset the Admin password back to default (blank) when one cannot access the My Cloud Dashboard to trigger a system only reset.

For my device 4s and 40s resets are not working for password reset

After about 30 !!! resets, my admin password is still the old one, not reset.
Again, “good” job WD  :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
