Public Folders can open in my Windows Explorer without any problem
However, the folder which are not share to Public cannot open in my Windows Explorer it is requesting User name and password. I use the user name of My Cloud and password but not working. I also tried to use user name and password of my Windows Log In also not working.
I have no clue why the username and password is not accepting. Its shows access denied.
For starters, you may want to read the My Cloud User Manual (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/?id=439&type=25) if you haven’t done so already. It explains how to create Users, configure Shares for Private access, and assign User permissions (Full Access, Read Access, No Access) to private Shares.
When you access a Share that is configured for private (Public Access = Off) you enter a User name and password that was set through the WD My Cloud Dashboard user interface and which has permission (Full Access or Read Access) to access the Share.
Note that Windows doesn’t allow for using multiple different user names to access multiple Shares. One may be able to remove other credentials and try accessing the private Share again. One may have to restart the Windows computer after changing or removing Windows credentials. For Windows 7 see the following link:
Thanks for a reply Bennor
I delete the credentials but the problem still same.
however if put in public I can map the file.
Is there any possibility to map the public files using other wifi connection. I mean not the same network connection for the my cloud and my laptop.
My cloud connected to our home router.
My laptop connected to my mobile wifi.
thanks
Are you being asked for a My Cloud User Name and Password or a Network User Name and Password? Are you able to provide an image of the pop up that ask for this?

I can not find an answer to this thread. Is there a solution? I’ve tried all passwords possible. I have set up private shares with no PW. I can access them on my desktop app, mobile app, and on mycloud.com. If I want to use explorer or MS programs, no luck! Anyone?
Disconnect all drives mapped to the MyCloud.
Connect a mapped drive to one of the private shares, using MyCloud user credentials with access to the private share.
Connect all other shares using the same credentials.
Works a treat for me (WinXP and Win7).
