After moving in a new apartment I can't connect to WDMyCloud

Hello, Mac user here. (Yosemite)

I’ve been using WDMyCloud for almost a year without any problem.
Now I’ve moved in a new apartment, with a new Internet connection.
I’ve plugged the WDMyCloud to the (new) router with the same ethernet cable I’ve been using in the old apartment.
The router (a Vodafone Station Revolution) is assigning the 192.168.1.7 ip to WDMyCloud.
The light is BLUE.
The Finder sees the WdMyCloud but I can’t access to it.
Connect to Server > smb://wdmycloud doesn’t work.

The really weird thing is that app “WD My Cloud” shows this:

What the h3// is 169.254.7.160? As I told before, my router has given the 192.168.1.7 to WDMyCloud!

I also tried a 4-sec reset but nothing.

Anyone can help me please? Thank you
E.

The IP address of your router (i.e. your external IP address)?

Try a different router port; looks like there’s some odd routing going on…

Ah, no, it’s a ‘local IP address’ for when dhcp fails:

http://www.lookup-ip-address.info/ip-address-detail

“This is a “link local” IP address. These addresses are usually used by devices that have failed to obtain an IP address from a DHCP server. They only exist in private networks and are not routable on the public Internet”

Did you have your device set to a static IP?

If it is appearing on that address, use it to access the dashboard and sort out the dhcp setting.

Hello, thanks for reply
I cannot access to the My Cloud dashboard with http://169.254.7.160/

In the WD My Cloud app, I clicked on “Connect to devices with WDMyCloud.com login” and put my credentials.

Now the app says:

I don’t understand. How this (wrong) IP is related to my credentials?

So I went to wdmycloud.com using my web browser trying to change this IP manually but I got this:

This means that actually I have a device connected to my account but I can’t access to it because it’s “offline”.

I need My Cloud to be mapped on a 192.168.1.x address!

Hmmm… Odd.

You can always connect the device directly to the computer to gain access to the dashboard to see if you can sort out the network settings (p110 in the manual).

Or a 40-second reset should revert to DHCP mode. Then reboot the router. Oh, a 4-second reset should revert to DHCP, too.

I’d try rebooting the router, if you haven’t already.

A good idea.

I have connected the device directly to the Mac and I got access to the dashboard.

In the network settings I’ve forced a static IP (192.168.1.17).

I’ve rebooted the router and NOW I can access to My Cloud both through Finder and the app “My Cloud”.

Thank you for you patience.
:grinning:
