The WD method instructions should be able to work with any web browser on any device - - > all the commands are being executed on the NAS. The web browser is simply serving as a monitor.

BUT PLEASE READ MY POST IMMEDIATELY ABOVE;

This is one of the workable solution … by finding and connecting to your own Local Network Drive.

[Instructions to Enable Local Network Access on a My Cloud Home, My Cloud Home Duo and SanDisk ibi (wd.com)] ( [How to Enable Local Network Access on a My Cloud Home Without Cloud Services)

I am now one step closer to see my drive … I can see the drive i just created but still cannot access the contents yet, but think will be soon…

Question: If I can see the network Drive but see the contents inside, any clues to be able to see the contents…?

When using the last 6 digits of serial number of the physical drive (which is below the device), I can manage to connect to that, but just cant see the contents yet…

Check this, i reach to access my data with this solution

Hi there

Did you do this ? And it worked, as I am seriously thinking to do this. Im just scared.

Hi there

Did you get it working?
Did you set up Local Access previously? Before the outage?

Yes, you will still need a NAS data recovery software. WD released a email with instructions about to to access locally. Good luck!

Local Access only works if you already connected local acces prior to the outage.
So to me it was of no use.

So did you open your device and downloade the data directly from the hard drive with NAS data recovery software?

Which software did you use?

Recognize that THIS part of the forums is for the now-obsolete OS/3 firmware devices. NONE of these devices are connected to the web any longer (WD servers were turned off-with plenty of notice- over a year ago).

The video above is all about recovery from a BROKEN device.
The MCH’s are not BROKEN. The web service is down. You can follow the published directions to obtain “local access”. Once you do that; you can copy the data off using file explorer (or just use the drive)

Mobile version of this community site isnt very good (didn’t see right away this was Os3 part)

The service seems to be back up: https://status.mycloud.com

HI Everyone,

I think WD had finally get the system back online. Hope that many of you will be able to retrieve your data.

I managed to login back to my cloud drive!!! I am not backing up my data to a new Synology Dive. I think this will be a much better solution, if you can get your data back , better do something to prevent such to happen again. Else we will be at WD’s mercy…

:fist_right: :fist_left:

Thanks, agreed. Having said that, it’s always recommended to have a synced back up of the my cloud data on another drive.
