5.31.101 firmware issue, NAS not accessible, fan noise

Broken firmware!!

After update to 5.31.101 on My Cloud Mirror G2, I’m no longer able to reach the device shares by PC or Mobile app. The web console is also not available over network connection.

Able to briefly connect to the web console on direct cable connection after 4s pin reboot. The fan is running high speed and CPU and Memory loads look must higher than normal. After about 5 minutes the web console isn’t responding and requires a 4s pin reboot to access again.

Assuming this new firmware is to blame. How can this be fixed or downgrade firmware to 5.30.103 version?

Drive is not or should not be indexing anything new. No major changes to files on device.

Please help!

Thanks!

You’re right to suspect that the firmware update to version 5.31.101 may be causing the issue, as similar problems have been reported by other users with the My Cloud Mirror G2. Since you’re able to briefly access the web console after a 4-second pin reset, try quickly logging in and disabling Cloud Access, DLNA, and

Media Indexing under the Settings menu to reduce system load. If the interface becomes stable, back up your data immediately. While WD doesn’t officially support firmware downgrades, advanced users have manually installed older firmware versions like 5.30.103 using SSH—though this carries some risk, so follow community-verified guides carefully.

If the issue persists, it’s best to contact WD Support directly, report the problem, and request assistance or a rollback package.

Could you please share a link to a firmware downgrade guide via SSH?
