I have spent way too much time trying to fix this prob. please try not to laugh too hard when you read this…
Have the Wd My Book (not the duo), cloud personal back up. It used to work fine, until we got a better router. Now all I am getting is the error
" Windows cannot access //TX56LP516192/com.wd.WDMyCloud) You do not have permission to access /TX56LP516192/com.wd.WDMyCloud) - contact your administrator…"
I am the administrator as far as i know. This error never came up before weput in the new router in our home.
I have tried:
-hard restarting the MyBook (put the paperclip in the pin hole for 10 secs)(to reset the Admin privilages) - that didn’t work
-Unplugging everything for a 10 min & then re-attaching everything - no luck.
-re-installing the sorfware (it’s not on add-remove programs) -how do ?
-tried to change home sharing - added all computers- that didnt work.
-At 4 diff times, i could not access the Wd MyBook IP address (what is happening there?). Page not recognized - like i could not access the web error came up.
-I’ve turned on public access - that didnt work.
-I’ve turned off public access - that also didnt wotk.
-I’ve sent emial to other users “to share” - i still access the data like have before.
-even pluging the actual device (myBook black block-device) into my laptop - that didnt work.
-I can access the data (very clunky thoguh) via MyCloud. I dont like going that way.
I used to be able to drag & drop all of my new data into the root directory of the Wd My Book, but this admin privilages error keeps blocking me.
probably going to dump this paper weight for a seagate external harddrive unless I can get this working again.
