Word documents saved on Mycloud cannot be opened

I have a MycloudX2Ultra that I use in my small office. Both my assistant and I access it using Macs. This morning I saved a word document that I worked over the weekend to the Mycloud device, and when my assistant tried to open it, she got this message “Word found unreadable content in “XXXXX.docx”. Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you trust the source of this document, click Yes.” We were unable to recover the document.Trying to open the document on my computer got the same result.

I can open previously saved Word documents without problem, but if I make any sort of change to the document, it can’t be opened. I don’t seem to have problems with other applications; Pages, Preview and Excel work fine.

My assistant can make changes and save the to Mycloud without problem.

I did update my OS to the latest one Sequoia 15.0 last week and my assistant has not…

Has anyone else had this problem or have an idea about what I can do to fix it?

  1. This is the My Cloud Home subforum which you have posted this subject, but your My Cloud EX2 Ultra has little to do with the My Cloud Home., having different OS, CPU and memory from each other.
  2. The error you are seeing with macOS 15 is that the smbfs (samba or SMB) that some macOS mounts are not compatible with the industrial standard SMB, causing file attribute error such as the ‘quarantine’ attribute shown below. These are well known and persistent bugs with Apple’s implementation of Samba which Apple has decided to make proprietary for financial gains (Apple wants you to use iCloud).

If you go to the My Cloud EX subforum as linked below, you may have a better chance of understanding the problem, but ultimately your solution may be addressed at the macOS subforum at Apple support.
