WDTV Live Hub Drive mapping

I have a new WDTV Live Hub setup on wireless LAN. I used a D-link supported/approved USB Device, it is working fine, connects to internet but i can not map a drive to this device from an XP or Vista machine. I tried the mapping utility but that fails as well. I am able to get to the media device through the web http service on the LiveHub however i want to move files to the media device from my PC. Firmware is upgraded to latest level, Workgroup is set correctly. Any ideas?

I tried mapping drive manually but that did not work. What is the default \device name\folder share I should use.

Could this be a firewall issue?

Could very well be a firewall issue…

If I remeber right the default name is \WDTVLIVEHUB\ or \WDTVLIVEHUB\Public or \WDTVLIVEHUB\WDTVLIVEHUB - I don’t remeber which (I’ve renamed everything)…

hi tried disabling the firewall and changing the device name on WD, still can not see the WD. Can see all other devices/PC’s on the LAN

also, when i reboot, i get the firmware 2 of 2 download fails even though the latest firmware is on the system. under settings, latest firmware shows 2.07.17. then i select check for new updates and the WD says “your media player is up to date”. very confused…is this thing defective.

I would suggest you follow the instructions from this tread.

Hi your URL goes nowhere…anyway, i took the unit back because if they cant get a simple firmware download correct, then what else is not going to work.

I also had problems to set up the network, but I did a factory reset and after that, everything worked at once. Wireless is also not the best idea; wired is always better and signal much stronger.
