WD utilities and security cant recognize my drive

I bought a 4TB Elements HD and installed the Discovery app and then installed the security and utilities app. When the drive is plugged in and I launch either the security or utilities app all I get is a message that says: “Attach a supported WD drive.”

The Discovery app sees my drive. I saw a topic here that suggested uninstalling the security and utilities apps and downloading them from the WD site but that doesn’t work.

2 possible fixes (dunno, haven’t tried them myself) in the thread below … ie. Enable … WDDriveService or WD Drive Manager in the Services of Windows

Thanks for the suggestion but the service is set to Auto but the WD app doesn’t recognize the drive for enabling security.
