WD TV with 5TB External USB HDD?

Hello, I purchased from Best Buy the WD TV (this exact one here  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-tv-personal-content-media-player/6002178.p?id=1219180376263&skuId=6002178 )

And I bought a Seagate 5TB External HDD. I’m finding reports that it supported only 2TB but has been updated up to 4TB with a firmware update, and found one report of “MAYBE” a 5TB working. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Hi ArmitageIII, welcome to the WD Community. The maximum supported size is 3TB, larger drives might work, but it is not guaranteed that they will correctly.

I have a Seagate Backup Plus 5TB connected and the disk manager displays the full capacity accurately.  I have about 3TB in use without a problem.  I am using a  WDBHG70000NBK with the latest firmware.

I have the Seagate 4TB Desktop External HDD with just over 3gb of 1080 mkv files on it and they all play fine.

3gb of 1080 mkv files is not very much   (you meant 3TB i’m guessing)

Really? My WD TV comes tomorrow and if I can use the HDD I’m going to be so excited… it’s this one I have  http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Desktop-External-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I

Confirming the 5TB Seagate Backup Plus works with the WD TV!

4TB WD Internal HDD (NTFS GPT Partitioned) + Orico External Enclosure

works fine on my WDTV Media Player (2014)  and even the WDTV Live Hub (FW 2.07.17)
