WD Tv Live Plus with Buffalo 3TB external

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could give me some help to a solution.

I just bought a Buffalo 3TB hard drive. My live plus does not recognize the drive. The drive is fine and can be used on any PC.

I have read back in the day 2011 that tech support was aware of the issue. I just downloaded and installed the 1.06.42 firmware. To my knowledge this is the most recent (back from 2013)

Does the live plus not play 3tb externals?

Does anyone know if this the most recent firmware for this model?

Should I upgrade to the WD TV LIVE?

Any advice or suggestions would be very helpful. I just moved everything over so i am not really wanting to take it back. However, I will.

Does the mybook 3tb play on the live plus?

Please someone help

Hi there,

If I recall correctly, this device does not support these types of drives; however I have not tried this. Let’s see if another user can share this information and helps you out on this matter.

According to the KB Article it “should” support a 3TB HDD

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5875/~/data-is-corrupted-after-connecting-a-drive-greater-than-2-tb-to-a-wd-tv-live

But … i don’t know if the OLD wdtv’s support GPT partitions ?  maybe they only support MBR (which has a max size of 2TB)

Anyways, my WDTV Live Hub and 2004 WDTV supports my 3TB and 4TB drives … ive even heard of 6TB support for the Live Hub
