WD TV Live Media Player MKV issues

Hi, guys.

I just bought a WD TV Live Media Player, the whole reason I did it was because my previous media player wouldn’t read mkv or mp4.

First file mkv I tested with the WD TV, it wouldn’t play properly, missing pixels, video freezing, dodgy quality overall.

The video plays fine on the computer.

Should I just return this piece of **bleep** or is this probably a one time deal?

Thanks in advance.

Download, install and run your file through mediainfio- http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

Post the FULL text output here.

I’m the process of re-downloading the file. (I had deleted it once I saw it didn’t work on WD TV).

I’ll let you know.

Thanks for the help.

Easy.   Your file has GLOBAL MOTION COMPENSATION.

From the WD Specs:

  • MPEG4.2 ASP@L5 up to 1280x720p30 resolution and no support for global motion compensation.

Well, I don’t know much about this stuff. I bought this to play MKV, it should play all of them.

I’ve tested a few others MKV and they all worked so I guess it’s ok.

Thanks for the help.

No, it should play the formats it supports.

It doesn’t support the format you have, so it’s not going to play it.
