WD Sharespace Gigabit support?

I connected the WD Sharespace (NAS) directly to a server using a cat-6 cable and after connecting, it only shows the connection speed at 100mbps. The file transfer speed is only about 1mb/s. When i manually configure the server’s network card to use “1 gb auto”, it does not negotiate and shows network unplugged. I cannot find anything regarding setting the speed in the Sharespace web interface.

The network card on the server is HP NC373i Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter. The current firmware on WD Sharespace is 2.1.3 with MioNet 2.3.9.10 (Last Upgrade: Fri, 03 Apr 2009 00:40:30). I can’t update the firmware because it is currently backing up a huge amount of files and can only stop it if i’m certain that the firmware update will add the 1gbps speed. The current operating system on the server is Windows Server 2003.

Any Ideas?

I have emailed WD Support and no luck.
