WD Red failing

I’ve just bought a new WD Red NAS 4TB and I’ve tried to use it as an external hard drive. I have added it to a standard external SATA enclosure. I have formatted it for Mac OS and it works without any problems until I switch it off and on from the enclosure’s power button. After this Mac OS says it can;t read the drive and it needs to initialise and format it again. I have downloaded and installed all of the SmartAware software and utilities but none of them see the disk at all. What could I be doing wrong?

I, I have had a very good experience in using the external docs and cases for connecting external drives.

I would like to know if you are actually using a very good brand of external dock for connecting sata drives to USB.

Recommend you to go in for External Hard drive from Western Digital / Seagate and NEVER buy or opt for cheap local cases, converters and cable.

I too had many drive failing, Then I purchased the Maxtor 320GB external drives with 12V / 2A power adaptor and using the dock of the HDD to connect any drive and then on no problems at all.
