Reformat former NAS WD Red drive for use as external HD in windows 10

I have two WD Red 4 TB disks which were used as NAS drives. I would like to reformat them so I can use them as USB connected external hard drives on a windows 10 computer. However, when I plug them into my computer they are not recognized. Is it possible to do this? If so, how do I proceed?

Hello Sing141,

As the drives were used in a NAS system you would need to format the drive. You can connect the drive to a computer internally and do a full erase using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows:

After formatting the drive you should be able to use it as external drive.
