WD Quick VIew

Installed the recommended software on 2 computers for my cloud. On one computer the quick view icon on the taskbar shows how full the drive is and temp when I hove rover the icon. On my other computer it does nothing when I click or hover over it. Any ideas?

Just something to try. I guess this is all behind your router on your local network so to try this should be safe. On the computer where QuickView does not work (just troubleshooting here) turn off the operating system’s firewall and try QuickView.

Once you’ve tried this to see if it works or not with the firewall disabled, re-enable the firewall.

Initially, it’s to see if the firewall is interfering with QuickView.

What are the differences in the two computers, if any? The more information you can provide about them the better for helping solve your problem.

One computer is an alienware desktop and the other is an alienware laptop, both running Win 7. Quickview works fine on the desktop. Both have Bitdefender running. Quickview works fine on the desktop. When I hover over the icon on the laptop taskbar it just says WD Quick View. When I disable the firewall on the laptop it works. I made a rule to allow the quickview.exe all access but it still won’t run with the firewall on. Both firewalls are setup the same. Makes no sense to me.

On the Laptop have you tried uninstalling Quickview and reinstalling it?

Make an exception for the QuickView app in the firewall?

I did try that and no difference.

I made an exception for the quickview.exe file. Is that the correct way?

I forgot to mention that making the exception did not help.

I have upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, however as I remember when you choose the icon to go in the notification area in Windows 7, did you set it to show icon and notifications. Right click the Taskbar and choose properties then under Notification area click Customize to set this up.

Yes, that is how I have it set up.
