Wd passport not reading on mac

Hi guys, 

My WD harddrive has stopped working and it wont read on my MAC, I tried to bring it to a local repair service to fix it but they said its impossible to retrieve the information inside because it’ll require them to dissemble my whole harddrive and will cost at least 10,000 HKD… becasue the connectors to the disk is broken. What is he saying exactly? Please help.

Based on the information you have posted seems like the USB connector is broken. If you need to recover the data on the drive I recommend you contact a data recovery company.
