My WD MyCloud has flashing white light in front, the LAN indicator lights are both blinking green.
I used a known working LAN Cable to connect the WD Cloud to a working router (also set as DHCP server but with no internet feed). The connection indicator lights on the router is not lighting up. Netwprk drive on Windows 10 > MyComputer does not show MyCloud as connected.
Checked LAN cable and router:
LAN cable is good since it connects PC to router.
DHCP server on router is good as it serves IP address to PC that was set to dynacmic IP.
It’s been about an hour since the WD MyCloud is turned on and plugged via working LAN cable to a DHCP server/ router. White light still flashes quickly in the front panel and LAN indicators at back of the unit is fast blinking green as well.
Any idea how to make this WD MyCloud work? Thank you.
It needs to access the internet, at least once (Plex needs an almost constant connection) to sign-in and check for updates and etc. Like, you can enter your username and password offline into WD Discovery, but those credentials are meaningless until it gets online to check with WD’s servers to verify that those are the correct credentials. You need to allow your router to connect to the internet.
Beyond that, sometimes the order in which devices are turned on and/or plugged in can
confuse the router a bit. If your router has a restart physical button or if you can restart it from its web interface, then use that but leave any connected things as they are until it finishes the process. (Note: just a restart, not a factory reset. You want your router to remember all the settings and devices it had.)
