this is my first post. I’m working as IT Technical Support and I always high recommended WD MyCloud for File Server at my company and other project sites. But unfortunately this one thing that bothers me since i bought WD MyCloud 3TB (serial: [Deleted - Privacy]) i personally installed the WD sync for 4 client desktop pc at first week it went well but i noticed that it’s almost full. I’d been checking for 2 days and i found out that the WD Sync History is making a temporary file which is accumulating 5GB each temp file (please see the attachement picture). i just want to report about this in order to do some update or correction with this.
please anyone is free to give feedback about this.
If one searches the forum they’ll see this issue of WD Sync consuming large amounts of the My Cloud free space is a known issue some have experienced. Most likely tied to the fact that WD Sync keeps up to 5 backups of a file it syncs so the user can recover a prior version of that file.
One can use a third party sync program that doesn’t keep backup versions of the files it syncs. Some here use Free File Sync: http://www.freefilesync.org/
Under the Username Directory of MyCloud (ex. Zaldhie) Its hidden folder WDSyncHistory then inside of it you will see all the files with the random letters and numbers filename.
