Hello, @richlambe2000 compass mobile dollar tree

It seems like there might be compatibility issues with the WD Drive Unlock file on Windows 11. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Update WD Security Software: Make sure you have the latest version of the WD Security software installed on your Windows 11 system. You can download and install the latest version from the official Western Digital website.

Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the WD Drive Unlock file, select “Properties,” and navigate to the “Compatibility” tab. Check the box for “Run this program in compatibility mode for,” and select the appropriate Windows version (e.g., Windows 10). Click “Apply” and then “OK” to save the changes. Try opening the WD Drive Unlock file again.

Check Disk Integrity: Use the built-in Windows utility, CHKDSK (Check Disk), to check the integrity of the external drive. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: chkdsk /f /r X: (Replace X with the drive letter assigned to your external drive). Follow the on-screen instructions to fix any errors found.

I hope my suggestion is helpful for you.

It seems like there’s a compatibility problem between the WD Drive unlock software and Windows 11. First, update both your Windows 11 and the WD software. Then, try running the WD software in compatibility mode for Windows 10. If that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall the WD software from the official Western Digital website. Also, check for updates for your external drive’s drivers in Device Manager. If the issue persists, test the drive on a PC running Windows 10 to see if it’s specific to Windows 11. If nothing works, contact Western Digital support. And remember to back up your data before trying anything.

As @nicholas185 stated, If you’re having compatibility issues with the WD Drive Unlock file on Windows 11, you can try these steps:

  1. Update WD Security Software: Install the latest compatible version from the Western Digital website.
  2. Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the WD Drive Unlock file, go to “Properties,” select the “Compatibility” tab, and choose to run in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
  3. Check Disk Integrity: Use CHKDSK in Command Prompt to verify the external drive’s integrity.

These steps can help resolve compatibility issues and ensure smooth access to your Western Digital external drive.
