WD my cloud device - how to download all content from the drive to PC

Hello

Can anyone guide me step by step. since my device is not compatible with the OS5 i want to download all its content to my PC and revisit my data strategy. Can anyone help. Have been struggling to find a way.

file.mycloud.com - i log in, see my content but no option download. the blue bar shows no option.

@little1ton
Are you using Windows, Apple, Lexus etc.?

How did you backup/move your content to your WDMYCLOUD?

Are you saying that nothing on your MY CLOUD is on your PC?

You should be able to drag and drop everything back to your PC. This may take a while.

Het cat, thanks for looking into my problem

i have a windows PC
The content backed to mycloud home devices was content from my mobile device. - apple. I want to download all that content to my PC.

PLs advice how do i set up the mycloud drive in windows explorer so i can drag and drop.

As of now i was trying through web files.mycloud.com

i can see the users and content but i cannot download. have to click each file and download… will be too long and tiring. and the mapped drive i hv in windows explorer is only pointing to the public folders and not to the other user names

If you map the drive on your PC, you should be able to copy and paste the entire folder (assuming you’re on the same local network).

Do you have a My Cloud OR a My Cloud Home? They are not the same. The My Cloud Home is a completely different device. Look at the Support link at the top of the page to figure out what your device looks like if you don’t know exactly what it is.

If your computer is on the same local network as the My Cloud or My Cloud Home you should be able to access your My Cloud or My Cloud Home using Windows File Explorer.

I have multiple devices on OS/3.
Two are capable of upgrade (in fact; I ran one on OS/5 for 10 months. . .before deciding to revert to OS/3)

The OS/3 devices are fine. . . .except

  • They are a security risk; and should be blocked from the internet
  • The oldest OS/3 devices (the ones that can’t upgrade) . . . are old. . . and probably should be upgraded. . . because of age.

As others have suggested; Drag and Drop is a time honored and good way to transfer files.
This process does involve a PC/MAC to run the process. Therefore, make sure the PC/MAC is on a wired -not wifi- connection to your network. . . or the process will take a frightening amount of time.

(in terms of Data strategy. . .that is a longer conversation)
