I had disconnected My Book from my laptop for about 3 months but kept the power cord plugged in. When I reconnected it to my laptop nothing happened, no sound or lights. I plugged it in the other day to a different outlet and the light flashed on for a few seconds then went out. Is there any hope to get this working again?

Make sure the drive is plugged in directly into a wall outlet. If possible try another USB and another computer just as a troubleshooting step.
Thank you Hamlet. I ordered a new power cord from WD and when it gets here I hope it works. I did try plugging into another computer but nothing happened. I’ll look for another USB to try too.
